    Default Black Nose Crappie

Been fishing lake Lanier since I was
    a kid. I’m 59 in Jan. I can’t remember
the last time I saw a black nose crappie
taken from lanier. Well this morning I landed
one. Anyone else caught a black nose out of
lanier? Just wondering how rare they are??

I don't fish Lanier, but I have caught Balck Nose Crappie out of Blackshear, Eufaula, and Barletts Ferry.

    Hey Dutch
I am primarily a dock shooter. In
your opinion which of the lakes you mentioned
offers the best opportunity for my style of fishing.
    Thanks in advance

Bartlett's Ferry, Blackshear, Eufaula...but to get to those you will be bypassing 2 great dock shooting lakes...Oconee and Sinclair.

X2 on oconee and sinclair. Corps of engineer lakes only allow floating docks which makes it hard to dock shoot. Georgia power lakes have fixed docks on posts. The fixed docks are a lot easier to shoot, because they have more space under them.

Got any Lanier crappie advice? I've been going a lot to 6-mile creek, but mostly catching spots. I have LiveScope and have just started using it on Lanier; when weather cools down I'll be going there a lot. I saw what I thought were some crappie around a tree, but they wouldn't bite. Tried a few different colors, then moved on. Was pretty far down, around 30 feet, if I recall.

lake temps are still in the lower 80s on Lanier. Tough for us all. My advise is to move to the north part of the lake where the two main sources flow into the lake (chattahoochee & Chestatee rivers). Target deeper docks(at least 15ft deep). In real state it is location location location. In crappie fishing this time of year it’s shade shade shade. Everything else fall into place. Shad etc.

There was a guide on Lake Lanier that shot docks for crappie and he was very good at it. He fished other ways too and I believe he guided for Stripers. He was pretty famous in years gone by. He knew Lanier really well. He wrote some articles I believe about docking shooting Lanier. If I can remember his name, I will post it and you can search on here and on Google and try to find his articles. His articles were either in GON or Georgia Sportsman, again if my memory is right. Good luck with your fishing.

Was it Doug Youngblood? Dock shooting IMO is one of the very best ways
    to score on Crappie.
