Lanier has a good population of mainly black crappie. It also has tons of docks. Learn to skip or shoot a jig way back under these docks and you’ll catch crappie. Shoot it back there and let it fall. Most times you won’t feel the bite so you will have to watch for your line to jump. Right now there is a thermocline beginning about 20 ft down so fishing 40 to 60 ft will likely serve you not much good. The hot summer time is when the bite slows down. After a few cooler nights the water has cooled off some and the bite has picked up some. Caught 23 this morning.
    Hope this helps.
