Ah, live and learn. I knew what I was getting into, but I caught so many fish on that rod I became complacent, and asking it to drag a bass of several pound to the net was a bit much, I reckon. I hope I can buy a replacement tip, but no response from the vendor yet.

I need to get my electric boat ready to hit them waters. We have a few of those reservoirs around us.

My Nucanoe F12 gets around on these reservoirs very well with a cheapo Newport 46 lb motor. My elbows are too old and creaky for all that paddling. I rigged it with a long tiller handle, and straight-wired the head for external speed control with a little DIY box I put by the seat. I'm using a 35AH Duracell Ultimate AGM Deep cycle wheelchair battery, 25 lbs, and after 9 months it isn't cutting the mustard anymore. I will be pursuing the warranty and hopefully I get a new one out of it, but they don't last long in heavy use, and 35AH isn't really enough, 50AH would be better, especially in wind. Weight is the issue. I could get a Lithium 50AH that only weighs 15 lbs - that would be killer - but they are $600-$700. On the other hand they would last 5-6 yrs with little to no degradation in capacity. The math really doesn't work on these yet for me...
