    Default Oconee Yesterday


    Tim Rowland(TimR) and I went to Oconee yesterday. My target was stripers and his was Crappie. We ended up keeping 7 Stripers and 16 Crappie. Water temp was 52 and went to 55 at EOD. WE found 58 degree in the back of some creeks. ALL the fish we kept were caught in 57-70 FOW fishing 6-10 foot deep. ALL the crappie we kept were over a pound with about a third 2 pound+. In the afternoon we fished the creeks and caught a lot of crappie in the 10" range in the back of creeks in 6-10 fow. Between now and next Friday night, a lot of big crappie will be making love. Jig color did not matter as long as you had an Orange head tied on. All the jigs we used were Jiffy Jigs with sparkles.

    Bass Boats with 200+ HP are evil.

    Great report and dead on Bass boats. We were joking yesterday that they were the nascar boat division.

    Good report Danbo. those bass boats are tuff on wekends. since i retired i go during the week if posable. the boat was down last week. got it fixed Friday so next week i will be going to Blackshear.

    Weekends are tough this time of year. Bass boats are aggravating some of the times but wake boats are the devils own creation.

    Agreed on the bassboats! Had one sit down out of full throttle about 30' next to me Friday. I'm standing in front of boat fighting 3lb hybrid and waves he caused almost sent me flying out of boat. That is why I don't take my pistol on the water, may have to start!!!
