    Default Perry Fisherama

I recently had a growth removed from my thyroid and have been bored out of my mind for 4 days. And then I lost my mind and went to the Fisherama. As soon as I walked in the door I remembered why I had not been to it in years. I would estimate that 20%-30% was fishing. Monks' spot was filled with atv's. The rest leather, knives, soaps, wood working, and whatever else. I'm not a turkey hunter so I didn't go in the other building. I know there was a disagreement with GON a number of years ago. Disagreements of the kind are usually about money/control. GON does their thing in late summer at the Gwinnett Center I believe and is billed as a Deer hunting event.

Just to be clear, I have no problem with crafts, atv's, soap, etc.... But this is advertised as a fishing and turkey hunting event.

i'll save my time and $$ from now on.

    Just had to rant.

Shame it has come to that. Monk passed away last April and his business has since sold to a guy in Statesville,NC. Used to enjoy going by his shop in Liberty when I lived in NC. He was a great guy. Shop in Statesville is in process of getting set up and opened.

Looked at the vendor list online and decided to skip it.

More of a junk show, than a Fishing/Hunting show....saved my 10 dollars. I miss going to Monks and stocking up at the show and I will drive to Vidalia and visit Jiffy jigs
before I give a cent to the Perry event ever again.

It used to be a great show. It is slowly fading away. They have lost vendors due to higher booth fees and have raised the price to get in. The Sportscenter has as much as the show does. Atvs were in fishing area and I don't remember any boats. We have a huge need for a fishing show with electronic reps and new products. Many more vendors are needed period.
