Hey guys, i usually hang out on the SC boards. Just booked weekend of 2/15-18 at LTL. First trip down to Talquin for me. Hoping the rain has moved out by the time i arrive. First day fishing is 2/16. Ive been reading over the Talquin posts on the board. Looking forward to trying the place out. I have a Lowe tunnel jet, so hopefully i can dodge the stumps i hear are all over the place. Surely not as bad as Rodman!

I'll lost more depth finder transponders than anything at Talquin hitting those floaters. Hurricane moved some stuff around so been fun looking out for those!

Talquin is definitely not as bad as Rodman and a lot of it is well under the water. Be careful running in creeks and keep yours eyes open when running. Best to drop a track and run same track every time.

Fishing will be different this year with the high muddy water and multiple fronts. I expect the major spawn to be late but with all the fertile runoff we have had crappie are very fat. 2/16 expect fish to be in or near the river channel. By March they will be scattered heading to spawning grounds.

Jigheads will vary with fisherman. I carry 1/48,1/32,1/24,1/16,3/32,1/8,3/16 and 1/4. I have friends who don't have trouble catching fish using only 1/16 and adding different weight split shots to get depth. I also carry every size split shot and use them at times to quickly adjust to find the key weight to to get down to fish. Split shot is much more affordable than jigheads.
