My son is stationed at Ft Benning for basic now then will be moving across state to Ft Gordan for training .I was wondering what kind of fishing and hunting opertunities there mite be in that area for young military guys . I dont believe he's going to be allowed to have his truck while he is at training in Gordan but they get weekend passes I'm hearing .

I am sure there is alot of water (Ponds and small lakes) on Ft. Gordon, I know there were a bunch I fished at Ft. Stewart and Ft. Benning when I was in. As far as hunting, deer season is coming to a close (Jan. 13th), but small game will be open till Feb. 28th. There should be a Sport-mans Club on post that he can get info on hunting and fishing there.

The military Pass & Permit has placed all information on-line. He will need to go to isportsman.net, click on the little 3 lines top left, select army, then select the base he's inquiring.
He'll have to create an account. I fish on Ft. Stewart. Hope this helps.

Fort Gordon has a great camp site on Clarks Hill Lake.... I've only stayed there once, but the campsites are very clean and there's a large gas station right outside the gate that sells every type of bait. It's a bit of a drive for me, but it will be in his back yard....

Ma Dad is retired Army, and we had a family reunion and camp out at Pointes West. It was convenient, and a good price. We had to deal with a loud party in a nearby cabin the first night, with live rap over a PA, and when they ran unreasonably late we called the mgmt. They finally shut down after 2 visits from the authorities. Other than that is was fine.
