    Default TUESDAY ON OCONEE 6/5/18

Jim and I fished Lake Oconee yesterday from 6:30 to 1:30. The water was 78 degrees at the start and 83 degrees when we finished. The morning was cloudy and cool. We began fishing near timber and caught a few fish. The bite was slow except for the small fish and they were on fire. After about 2 hours we began trolling near the shoreline in water 20-24 feet deep. After trolling about a mile we found some stained water and feeding fish. There were a lot of fish suspended at a depth of 8-15 feet. We caught most of the fish on tight contours near flats and a few over the timber. We were fishing 8-10 feet deep. After lunch the sun came out and the temperature began to rise. We ended the day at 1:30 with 35 fish in the 11-14 inch range. We kept 22 fish and released the rest. Jim was tightlining jigs with a 3/4 oz sinker over a 1/16 oz jig head. I was pulling 10 rods rigged with 3/32 oz over 1/32 oz doubles. The best colors were Wildcat, Blue Ice, John Deere, Blue/Blk/Chart and Blue w/Chart tail Charlie Brewer.

Here is a side note. Before every trip I say a prayer asking the Lord to keep us safe and to keep our families safe while we are away. Yesterday morning before daylight on the way to the lake we had a very close call. I mean close! It could have been bad but fortunately thanks to the Lord we avoided disaster. Just saying.

I hope you enjoy the video.
