I would go with the 31's if I had more room in the battery box. There just isn't room. I will try the 27 and 29 and if I'm not satisfied with the results I will go back with double 29's.

With my two battery I-Pilot I can fish all most three days from daylight to dark. The maximizer they have in these trolling motors these days must be super efficient. I was just like you Dutch, I use to have to switch out batteries on a long windy day on the lake and I hated switching out batteries when the fish had started biting late in the afternoon. Fighting those 20+ knot winds use to eat up my battery but not with the I-Pilot.

I have noticed since I upgraded to the Ipilot I get longer battery life, my new Powerdrive V2 has the digital maximizer as well. I still can't get 12 hours out of a single series 29, but I do get 10 or so depending on how bad the wind is.

That is one big benefit going to a 24v system. 2 batteries last much longer and you get more thrust as well.

Since I was having battery problems before I found out the problem and fixed it. I now added one battery for my electronix on my boat only. Even now with just my helix 12 and my gps puck and my h/b internet system on when I get home to charge my batteries this battery has lost 60 percent of its charge. Does this seem normal?

I use a pair of 31's on my 80 lb thrust minn kota trolling motor, and they last all day for me.

Two 29's work pretty good for me also.

I use the marine max 29 series from Wally World. Got a 20’ boat with a Terova 80lb thrust motor and at the end of the day I’m still over 75% charged. I think the charger that you use is a big factor in how your batteries perform. I tell people spend your money on a top of the line charger and get a average battery. I also use a Kapawa prop on my Terrova.

I recently replaced the series 29 with a series 31. They have the same dimensions. When my 27 goes out I will get another series 31 to replace it. The two 31's won't take any more room than the two 29's. Problem solved.

31 series takes care of all my trolling and electronics needs. Got 2 for that and 29 for cranking.
