    Default Beginner on Oconee.

Im hitting Oconee in the A.M. I've always fished the ocmulgee around the house, now I'm wanting to learn the lake Crappie. Any tips, tricks, or techniques would be much appreciated. I got skunked last time.

How do you fish? Troll. drop shot minnows, push, etc.. Oconee will be tough until the temp comes up about 10 more degrees.

I’m planning on pushing spider rigs. And maybe shoot some docks that are deep and close to the channel. Last time I went I didn’t have any electronics that were worth a toot.

Check the flats in the back of the creeks. Temp hit up to 57.5 late in the day. Caught 14 between 4 and 6 this evening spiders rigging after work. Black/blue/black was the hot color.

Ga carpkiller, thank you for the heads up, maybe I can get on some. What depth water were they in? And were they on any structure or just schooled up in open water?

I was catching them on the flats in 7 FOW. No structure, just staging on flat. Good luck and let me know how you do.

Check out Hotwaters videos on Lake Oconee. He covers pushing(spider rigging) and long lining at the same time basically. Use his methods but adjust your fishing locations as the weather warms and the fish prepare to spawn and you should be good to go.
