    Newbie living in Blairsville, Ga.
Before I get into my fishing let me say I have only fished for stripers here and that was with the help of a very kind neighbor. Where I came from crappie fishing was top on my list and hope it will be here also.
Having lived in Southeast Kansas for 40+yrs then moving to the North Georgia mountains, now for 2+yrs, I am having to change my fishing tactics. One would think fishing, how you go about it, would be the same where ever. Not true, or at least for me.
The first thing I noticed that was different and a dead giveaway of my being an outsider was the pronunciation of Crappie. In Kansas, one would call this Crop-ee and here they say Crap-ee. However you pronounce it they look the same, taste the same. All GOOD Eating...
The second thing being different is habitat. Here, Lake Nottley, Blairsville, Ga., the water is very clear, a lot deeper and not as much vegetation. Though the live bait seems to be more plentiful. One thing that is the same is the dropping of weighted trees off the shoreline. In Kansas, they use Cedars and here it is Pine. Whatever it is crappie love to gather around brush piles. During the spawn, I have no idea how or where they move to here but in time I will know.
So in short if anyone here, close by, could give some helpful advice it would be very appreciated.
I look forward to posting some future catches and from what I have seen posted on here it looks like a GREAT place to be, next to being in my boat on a lake somewhere.
    Thanks, Ron
