Default Caught a few slabs in a couple hours...

I had the pleasure of fishing a private pond this afternoon, and for only about 2 hours, we managed to pull in 5 fish.....none of which had eggs...which was sort of surprising.

Here is what the day looked like for us.....

It was SOOOOOO well worth it....with a 5 year old, you have a very small window of opportunity to catch fish and keep them entertained for sure. Then, the questioning starts, "Why aren't we catching any fish?" HA!!!

Also, another VERY interesting side note, and I haven't had seen anything like it so far to date. We caught a fish that was a hybrid between a bream and a crappie....it had the mouth the size of a crappie and the colors of a bream, but the pattern of a crappie....has anyone else seen this before? I guess it is possible...but, I have just never seen it until now. If I was thinking better I would have gotten a picture of just that fish, but I didn't.

This is probably one of few fishing posts that I will be giving. For those of you that have known me from before, I sold my boat....boo hoo!!! And I have just been doing a little fishing from time to time. One day in the near future I hope to be back on the market for a Jon Boat at least to get back on the water for real. But for now, we are just hittin' the banks.

    See ya!

That's just too cool. I took my 8 year old and 5 year old to lanier today and caught 30. They still got bored.
To heck with work, lets go fishing.

Ga. Boy...................Good to see you fishing especially w/ the 5yr.old. I can't tell for sure from the pic but your mystery fish looks to be what I've always called a "War-mouth" bream.

Yep, I believe you are correct....I believe it is also called a war-mouth bream...I guess I hadn't caught one until today....different....I can say that much!

Glad to see the boy was excited over those fish.:p You starting him off right...that's for sure. By the time youre back on the water and back into fishing he'll be ready. Just keep taking him along with you. He'll make your best fishing partner ever.

AMEN to that!!! The only reason I sold my boat was because I didn't have anyone that wanted to go fishing as often as I did....so, it sat there way too much for me to consider it acceptable. Hopefully, we give him a little taste of the good stuff and he will be my tournament partner in no time!
