    Default J & D Slab Madness Series

Jamie and I have decided to throw a couple of old fashioned pot tournaments into the mix for this year. Low entry fees, no memberships, no early registration, no late fees, CASH ONLY in and out. No frills. Just good old friendly competitive fishing.

Couple rules to keep everyone on the same level:

    • Sign-up 5:30 AM - 6:30 AM with Captains meeting at 6 AM
    • $60 per boat with 85% pay back to 1 every 5 and big fish is included (equals $5 per boat from the 85%)
    • Sample Pay Back on 20 boats: 1st)$500; 2nd)$240; 3rd)$120; 4)$60; BF)$100
    • Fish 7 AM - 3 PM; weigh-in will start when scales are set up at weigh-in location (approx 3:30 PM); must be in line by 4 PM
    • Only weighing 7 fish which MUST BE ALIVE to weigh-in.
    • Max 2 adults per boat, but children under 16 are WELCOME to join the 2 adults and highly encouraged
    • Can only fish in designated tournament waters; off limits areas (if any) will be covered at captains meeting
    • Must fish from a boat with an outboard motor, no bank fishing
    • Boats must be brought to sign-up for live well check
    • No cell phone usage during tournament except for non-fishing needs
Any updates will be posted here and on our web site too. I tried to attach a PDF file of the flyer, but the file is too big for the limits of this board. I will email it to all the prior and current members I have an email address for. If you would like a copy emailed to you, send me an email at [email protected]. Feel free to print the flyer and give to anyone you think may be interested.

These tournaments do not count toward the regular season tournaments, Classic Swap-Up Challenge, or Championship Series. These are stand-a-lone tournaments.

Thumbs up Lake Oconee 02-18-2012 Results!

We had a big time at Oconee today. 23 boats competed even though the weather forecasts were not all that appealing. Several teams stayed home because of it. Well the weather man lost again. The rain held off till we had the weigh-in finished and packed up. It was a slow bite for most of the teams, but quality fish were caught by many of the teams. Can't say enough about how much the Sav-A-Lot BP made us feel right at home and was ready for us with breakfast and bait already bagged up at 5 AM! Stop by and see Bobby, Lisa, and Jason if you are around Oconee. Good folks that go out of their way to help you. Water temps ranged from 50-56 and the water was unusually clear for Oconee. Good color, but clearer than I am used to seeing in early spring. I bet this rain tonight changes all of that! Males and females were caught from the middle of the creeks to the very backs of the creeks. Seems they were scattered all over the water column and any where from 4-20 feet of water. Color of baits didn't really matter as much as minnows and crappie nibbles. Personally, it was really nice for Jamie and myself to get a chance to actually fish a tournament again. Getting a late start and having to stop early really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be on the fishing. We just couldn't find the fish that the other teams were catching. We'll try it again at Blackshear! I can tell you I am proud to have fished with my oldest son, and to see him grin all the way home after we won big fish. Good times had by all, and looking forward to Blackshear March 3, 2012.
