Thank you very much for the well wishes. Was a tough bite, but as to be expected some very good anglers figured out the best ways to catch the big ones. A team that was side pulling won the Classic! Very different approach to crappie fishing from what most Southern anglers do. We watched them for two days and wondered how in the heck they were able to do it. It is an art they have mastered. Congrats to the winners. The winds were harsh on day one and two. The current in the river on day two made it even more difficult. I believe there were over 150 teams competing in this tournament.

I don't have a print out of the results yet, but I think at least 2 GA teams were in the top 20. A very good father-son team from GA, Williams & Williams, were day one leaders with a very good lead on the field. A gamble on being able to upgrade some smaller fish after weighing in some weak big fish did not pay off for them on day two. They had to go for the win and the fish just would not cooperate on day two. I don't think any tournament anglers would have done it any different. I applaud the effort they put forth to go for the big win. Proud to call them friends and Proud to call them Slab Masters members.

Another father-son team Huff & Huff made a good run for the win. They worked every part of the river and Lake Jordan trying to find the winning fish. They told me they put every rod and bait they own in the boat and tried every method they know to catch what they weighed in. That is pulling out all the stops folks ( and by the way thats a lot of knowledge and rods and baits!). Congrats to them too and Proud to call them friends and Proud to call them members of Slab Masters too.

Over all, I believe 11 or more teams from GA competed in the Crappie Masters Classic on the AL River. A lot of hard work was put in by all the anglers over several days and weeks trying to figure out how to catch the bigger fish. Good old crazy southern weather played havoc on most of us and changed the way we could fish the areas we had found in the days prior to the tournament. Method and approach is a key factor in catching quality fish on every body of water.

Look forward to the next season and seeing everyone again. We learned a lot from some very knowledgeable and friendly tournament anglers including last years champions and other teams too. They were very easy to talk with and went way out of their way to help us understand some very important aspects of crappie fishing that will pay off big time in just for fun regular weekend fishing as well as up coming tournaments. Thanks again to Wade Hendren and Steve Putman for taking time to talk with us. Hands Clapping
