Default A little help on Satilla fishing...

The Satilla has been on my bucket list for a while now... It's time to mark it off!
Planning to go real soon...as in this weekend or next. Was planning to put in around Waycross. Anyone recommend a particular ramp. Bait stores close by? Where is a good place to stay as it is a pretty good haul for me? Hotel/motel is fine but would rather stay at a fish camp if there are any around there. If it matters, we'll be fishing out of a 16' jon with a 30hp.
Don't know anything about the place cept Danbo done throwed a craving on me with all his river fishing pics..lol

With the river falling, I would recommend the Hwy 301 ramp. You could travel 15 miles to Jesup for lodging at three Motels on Hwy 301. If you like staying on the river I would recommend Deep Bend Landing.

I am not getting good reports from the Satilla as of late. My boy went last Thursday and did not do well. A young friend of mine went Monday to the 301 ramp and the Hwy 121 landing and did not do well. The water is still a little cool.

We went last year and stayed at Deep Bend Landing near Atkinson. Mr. Ron has a nice quiet campground with 3 cabins and alot of campsites for RVs. He has a website with pics and an calendar so you can check availability. There is 2 boat ramps to use and there is a bait store at the red light when you pass through town. We caught some pretty fish, but the river was at 8ft. We found out the river is best when it's between 4-6ft. I would like to make another trip in the future.
