    Default New Crappie fisherman

Not new to fishing ,, more or less ,, used to fish a lot when I was younger ,, till the job ,, worked as a City Letter Carrier for the Post Office for 43 years ,, pretty much took all my free time for about 15 years,, sold the boat I had at the time because of the lack of fishing time ,, I retired about 2 years ago ,, lost my wife to cancer ,, that is what pushed me into retirement ,, was time to go anyway lol ,,

Decided to buy another boat 3 months ago a 17' CC G3 aluminum boat ,, haven't been out in it but about 4 times ,, our weather as been bad ,, really haven't fished but one time and that wasn't for long ,, still haven't put a fish of any kind in the boat yet ,, figured getting the boat would get me back into fishing ,, get me out of the house & out of the recliner ,, when I fished back in the day ,, I was mostly a inshore saltwater fisherman ,, Speckled Trout & Flounder ,, I will still be doing a lot of that when the weather gets right ,, The boat I got is pretty nice ,, not the model I really wanted ,, more or less ,, but because of Covid ,, you buy what they had in stock or you might be waiting months or longer to get the model you really wanted ,, my dealer still hasn't been able to replace the boat I bought from him on his lot ,, the factory just doesn't have enough people to put boats out I guess,,

I went Crappie fishing way back in the day ,, when the Gulf was to rough to fish for the inshore fish,, really liked that and have decided to make a big effort to try and fish for them a lot more ,, maybe more than I will fish for Trout & Flounder ,, we don't have a lake in my area ,, what we have are river systems that feed the bays that feed into the gulf ,, Crappie can be caught :-) I have been stocking up with the tools I will need to make a stab at Crappie fishing ,, tackle and baits ,,

Anyway ,, I will be reading the Forum to try and pick up info that may help me put my first Crappie in my new boat :-)

Welcome and blessings from SE Ohio.

hope you enjoy the site. It is excellently moderated and very informative. There is a mechanics corner, cooking, contest, hunting, jig thing and lure making, and state forums to check out. Great site to learn, ask questions, see some great pictures, share stories and experiences. There is a store too plus personal classifieds you can find different kinds of gear.

Enjoy your new boat boat and I look forward to seeing some Slabs you catch in the future.

I'm retired USN and just moved to Chattanooga to semi retire and fish and hunt. I'm new to the site and looking forward to my first Crappie season. I just bought a 1997 Stratos, put a new Lowrance Ti2 fish finder on it and I'm ready to hit Lake Chicamauga tomorrow. I here they are starting to hit so I'm looking forward to it. Any suggestions on what part of the lake is best now, bait, etc? Any help would be appreciated.
