thought sac a lait was crappie! welcome to the best website on the net!!!
Hello to all from the Cajun Prairie. Thanks for letting me in to this fine forum. I live in a small country community in Evangeline parish Louisiana. I, like most, grew up fishing, hunting and camping. I have had a few boats in my adult life, but in 2007 it was the 1994 Alumacraft Crappie Deluxe w/25hp Evinrude that really gave me the “fever”. I have not been hunting since 2007 , as I prefer spending my time on the water. My 2 boys were young at the time (9 & 14) and we spent so much time on the water that fall and early 2008, that my wife told me to get a new boat…something bigger she said. Sooo… I sold the little stick steer and bought a Tracker TXW175 w/50HP 4S. She had actually been wanting to fish with us but she wasn’t comfortable in the lil boat (non-swimmer). But man when I got the Tracker, it was on. We all went on fishing trips together and really enjoyed the times we had on that boat. Until last January, I sold that boat because I literally had only fished like 3-4 times the year before. See, my boys had grown and one was already out of college and in the workforce while the youngest was away in college. And with all of the other excuses, I decided to sell that boat and let someone else enjoy it. See, I had bought a kayak the previous fall and kinda enjoyed being able to throw it in the back of the truck and head down to Chicot for a quick trip. Well that didn’t last. Oh, I still have my kayak and will take it out when I go for a quick night out in the tent somewhere, but…you know that deep inside I was longing for another small boat. Preferably another stick steer, love those boats. Anyway, I just found one the other day. Man! What a nice little setup, it was well taken care of too, a 1995 Bass America Crappie 15 with a 25 Johnson on the back. I was able to take her out on the water once before heading back to work offshore for my 14 days, but while at work I am planning a few upgrades to come when I get back. Bass have been my main prey over the last 12 years but I am looking to focus on white perch… aka the “Sac A Lait”. This is where you guys, and gals, come in. I will be picking the brains of all of you subject matter experts on various topics related to this species. Thanks again for allowing me to join in.

Welcome. I grew up in Lafayette, finally got smart and stayed it Texas! haha. I joined the Army after graduation to see the world and got stationed at Fort Polk of all places. Retired in Texas and love it. Anyway, I still have a brother in Lafayette. I fished Chicot a lot in high school as well as the levie in Henderson. Fun times out there. Welcome to the forums.
