    Default Orvis Clearwater

Does anyone fish with a Orvis Clearwater? Is it worth paying that much money for a fly rod combo or just stay with cabelas wind river ? Orvis is 379 Wind River about 130 both 6wt .

The Clearwater outfit is better. Is it worth it? That's up to you. Between the two, I'd choose the Clearwater.

Is there a fly shop within an hour or two of you? If it's possible, the best option is to cast a rod before you buy it.

Some good suggestions, DB4D. I have a nice selection of different weights and would hate to try to replace them with like equivalent at a decent price. They are all long discontinued models but good quality. I have an old circa 70s Orvis glass that is an absolute beauty to cast.

As the late, great Tom Morgan used to say, a good rod is a good rod whether it was made 40 days ago or 40 years ago.

I don't own one, but I fished that very rod on a guided trip in Yellowstone. It's good.

I’m a big fan or Orvis. However I did get started on wind River Point being it’s hard to pay a lot of money when you aren’t sure you like fly fishing. I would start easy with a wind River 71/2 ft 4wt rod and grow from there
