Default A new Bug waving stick

On the advice of a fellow I know, I went and got me a new fly rod. Nothing spectacular, but a decient beginners rod just the same. Its a Martin 5-6 wt. came ready to fish. hoping to get out and use it soon. Oh yea, I almost forgot, it's an 8' rod.

It is fairly easy to learn. I mean I was able to do it fairly quickly. The bluegills love a foam spider. Keeping the little ones off it will really be your only issue. Well that and wanting to tie up some fly you saw on the internet. LOL
Maybe they will bite this one……

I've thought about getting one but know I would have line slung all in the trees or all over me.... I'd better stick to pitching and jigging.

I think during the learning process, catching the little ones will keep me going. Knowing at least I can Ketch something, albeit small. Then work up from their to the larger ones. No on the subject of tying flies, that monster has already bit. Thankfully my jig materials can be used to some extent anyway, which lessens the burden on the wallet. In the beginning anyway. Thank you for reading, and the comment Micanopy

I was doing the float and fly thing for quite awhile, before jumping in. LOL. Thank you for the read, and comment Dave.

Flipping the bug wand is really enjoyable. I spent a few afternoons practicing in my backyard to get the feel of casting. Have fun Jamesdean.
Thanks Jamesdean thanked you for this post
