Got the 8' St. Croix yesterday. 4 wt is gonna be a ball with some bull gills. cant wait. One thing I like about the 4 piece is I can put it in the car and if I happen upon a lake or pond its ready to go.

Great idea! I keep a 9' 3wt along with my FF back-pack & a vest for the same reason.

Here we are one month after your purchase, do you have a review for us? I find myself in a similar situation but I am looking for a slightly lighter rod 2/3wt. I am highly considering a St. Croix, which model did you go with? I'm eyeballing the legend elite series but that's a lot of coin for a rod only.

A couple of guys at my local Bass Pro were raving about the 6' 2wt:

St. Croix Rods | Imperial | Fly Fishing

    I'd prefer the 7' 3wt, but it's your choice.

    Others to consider:

    TFO Signature II:

    Redington CT in a 3wt:

If you're willing to spend more, there are many more options.
