Short strikes should not be problem, with that one.
I hate it when gills just nip at a popper and won't take it. Do you think they might fall for this or is it over kill?
I cut down some old beat-up cork and balsa poppers. I added a #8 hook to the popper hook shank using 12lb mono and wove ultra chenille through it and added just a bit of rabbit to the end. This won't do me much good this season.... too cold unless we get a few days of warm sunny weather to get the gills to the surface.... AND my Scott FR is currently in Colorado getting a new tip section. - AF

"Mister, I love the way you wear that hat."
"You don't know nothin'."
Thats a pretty sweet looking tie there. I might have to try that one out as spring approaches next year.
Looks like a good imitation of a dragonfly. Should work great especially if your area has lily pads.

Let us know how you do when you try it, looks real nice.
dvuks - Can't wait to tie it on.... spring time sure sounds like a long way off. Will let you know.
Also made up some jigs with the same idea, I posted this a while back on the tying forum.
Looks like they will catch fish to me, post some pic`s of the catch :-)
I've done well on these for bass, bluegill and Florida exotics:
