Jim, we had about the same luck this week. Covered a lot of water but only a few to show for it.
But I got this guy today fishing a 4” flutter spoon for bass.![]()
I got back out on the lake this past week or two. I needed to do some searching to find out where the fish were at. It's been hot as some of you know, and then there was the rain and storms that went through the area.
The first day or two I spent finding out where the fish were NOT. But it felt good to get back on the water. I also learned that I forgot a lot about how to set up the boat and rods. The good news is that I DID remember the drain plug !
The rods did bend a few times on these trips but not like I was hoping for. That meant more trips and different locations. The lake is only so big, right?
I even asked Les to join me on one of the trips thinking that would change my luck. Well it did ! We found some but boy did we have to work for them.
I got to test out my skills every day I went out. The cats and gars were everywhere. and they loved giving me a run for my money ! A day did not seem to go by that a big cat took one of the rods on for a test fight.
I started to think that I should up grade my line from the 6# test to something heavier. The gars didn't cut me any slack either. I must have had at least one if not two come to play with me each day. But that just makes for some extra fun.
Then I had this guy show up...
He just kept talking the whole time he was in the boat. I let him go just to get back to enjoying the quiet.
I did get the rods to bend a lot over the last couple of trips but most of them went back to grow up some. I did have a few nice ones to invite over for dinner .
I looks like it may be a good season coming up !
So , until next time,
Tight lines and full nets.
See you on the water
Jim
Sounds like an enjoyable trip and some good ones too. Thanks for sharing

Ok guys, I’m dumb. Croakers? No spots so it’s not a redfish but kinda built like one. I got a lady fish a week or so ago, great fight on 2lb test.
Good lookin fish Jim. I’ll get the trolling rig out one day soon and try my luck. Conditions have been nice lately.

A lot is going on with the ramps. First off... Lake Monroe Park and ramp is open and doing fine. Wayside park, across the river is closed and under construction. Lots of work going on over there. Looks like 3 new double ramps going in with new docks and walks. The enterprise ramp in Deltona is closed!!! The word is that they are going to work on it, but nothing has been done yet. I keep asking the city about it but no action so far.
another good day at the office !
Yep, Enterprise is the one I'm asking about...that's the closest to you, right?
