Thread: Thought I would give it a try

After reading about the great time that Tim and Nino had fighting their fights, I thought that I would go give it a try.

I loaded the boat with my ultra light rods that were spooled with 4 # test ( see I did pay attention ) and headed out looking for an epic battle and tall tales to tell.

My first spot resulted in some small action but no hook ups. Moved on to the next spot. Here I did better. I boated a few small cats and a nice size gill.

Then I noticed one of my lines acting strange. I lifted the rod expecting to feel a fight but it wasn't there, but something was. The line was heavy and yep, even some movement to it. I added some more pressure to see if I could get it to move free. But it decided to come alive instead. It started on a long run. Not a hard one or a fast one but just a slow, strong run. I got it to turn and started to bring it back to the boat but as it got close to the boat, it just turned and headed off and down. At times it just felt like I had dead weight on the line them it would just go off and do it's own thing.

After three or four tries I got it to come along side of the boat to get a look see at what I had on the end of my line.



I reached down and let him off the hook.

I did get a few more cats and enough gills for dinner. That was a good day for me.
