Default FWC stocks hybrid striped bass into the Harris Chain

"Each year FWC stocks hybrid striped bass into the Harris Chain to provide an additional sportfish for anglers to target. In the past three years, FWC has stocked over 400,000 hybrids into the Harris Chain (Lakes Harris and Eustis). This week, FWC stocked catchable size (12-16”) hybrid striped bass into Lake Harris. Research biologists surgically implanted radio telemetry tags into these fish to track their movement throughout the lake. In 2017, a research survey showed that anglers would potentially target hybrids more if they better knew how to catch them. Our tagging study seeks to answer this question by determining movement patterns and habitat use throughout the lake."

I just thought I'd share. Not sure I like this but they say they can't breed so I'm kinda of no opinion.

We catch them up to 8-10 lbs in the St. John’s. Caught them mixed in with bass so there’s no issue there.
Never seen a crappie in their stomachs either, mainly thread fins, minnows and even armored catfish.
And if you clean them properly( remove all the bloodline) they are very good to eat.

I have. Only one though. And it wasn't real big. Griffin is connected to those lakes but wasnt directly stocked is prolly why.

They’re good sport, especially when they get over three pounds. I’ve eaten them also, blacked at Slimjim’s house, and they’re tasty. Extra fun when a big one eats something on your crappie rod.

    I caught 3 this December. 2 in Harris, a 17” and 12”. And 1 19” in Little Harris. It was a heck of a fight on a 12’ BGJP.
