    Default Brandon FL

My grandmother lives at Brandon and we are planning to head down there the first of February. I have a couple boys that love fishing. What lakes do you guys recommend within an hour drive or so? Lake panasoffkee is about an hour north and from what I can find online it is a good fishery. We are pulling our boat down. Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Lake Henderson in Inverness has a good following also. Up2Specks can tell more of that than I can though.

Lake Tarpon and you could also check out the Winter Haven Chain of lakes in Winter Haven Florida.

    Good luck Brandon FL

It'll take an hour to get out of Brandon; but once you do there are a ton of lakes to the east. Edward Medard Reservoir is probably the closest place to you. Although, they do have some restrictions on the lake such as no wake. Further to the east and closer to Lakeland will land you on some great fishing lakes. Check the fishing report in the Lakeland Ledger on Thursday. I'm a little skeptical of the accuracy but it will give you ideas. If you have a full day to fish I would go to Kissimmee or Okeechobee. They are both on fire right now and will be during February too.

Well it might take you an hour just to get out of Brandon, lol and im only partly joking.
But east of there on Rt 60 not far past Lake Wales is a road on the right that will take you to a boat ramp at Walk On Water lake.
    Also known as Lake Weohyakapka.
You will pass right by a nice tackle shop in Lake Wales if you want minnows.
Good numbers of Crappies can be caught straight out from the ramp about a half mile by trolling.

Medard Res. is best bet - has good supply of eatable Crappie, Large Mouth Bass etc.
800 acres - After they rebuilt dam about 6 yrs ago - brush piles have been added and old
    ones destroyed....
Should be good to catch Cpec's.....only 12 mi east of Brandon off hwy 60 - Turkey Creek Rd, turn
south at light by Race Track station.
