Thread: Need January advice

There is a thread here that says the St.Johns is only 2ft higher then normal now, I am going in January but I'm sure there will be debris to contend with. I've fished Talquin a couple times and liked it a lot, but if you go be careful there is a lot of standing timber in unexpected spots.

Looks like the Saint Johns River is looking better around Georgetown north so lake George, little lake George and Crescent should be close to normal. I’d call where you stay and see how there docks are as now that can be an issue with some. Good luck

He is right about standing timber in unexpected places. Just below the water line and in the middle of the lake. I enjoy fishing Talquin but it can be dangerous to run until you figure out where you can. My gps has a lot of dead heads marked that are just below the water line. When trolling I watch and mark them.

Think we will try talquin since John’s is iffy. I like to striper fish too and looks like it is also a pretty good striper lake. Will post some pics when we come down. Thanks guys
