Default The return of Monroe's MVP had

an unfortunate variable that reared its ugly head yesterday. Pontoon Pappy had another "eventful" day on Monroe yesterday. Unfortunately, he was his usual, solo Chief/Cook/Bottle-washer. Unfortunately, I had another freshwater venue of choice that I chosen for my C/C/B-w adventure. All of the forecasted before-trip variables(New moon, low wind, tolerable temps, no rain-except for PP's parade) seem to be properly aligned for a memorable, stellar fish-catching day in Central Florida. Unfortunately, both of our coolers had only 4 crappies at the day's end(PP had larger ones>13") Part 1- I was unexpectedly/hurriedly reaching for my camera-phone even before launching after seeing this beautiful Alligator Snapping turtle strutting his stuff near the ramp. As I stopped for the photo-op, he co-operatively laid down for his Burt Reynold's GQ glam-shot!Name: 20210908_081558.jpg

Size: 63.8 KB If you look closely, you'll amazingly see, that the snapper had a length of trailer wiring that had grown into it's carapace!!! Go figure Wired & Weird are spelled with the SAME LETTERS! Maybe he "lights up" for a little night fishin'!That was my trip highlight, unfortunately, as my largest fish never exceeded 11"'s.
Part2- PP's trip however was much more impactful, unfortunately. Having his preferred outlay of rods(15) in their place(+-), he unfortunately encountered a voracious pack of starving Pitbulls(aka Stripers) Unfortunately, last week while attending to my usual 1st-mate duties, I noticed that the 'Ugly-Carrot stick' rod(Bass spinning) had a larger diameter butt than his normal crappie arsenal. It would NOT fit securely into Speckanator's(his brother-in-law) nicely-fabricated full boat width, wooden 'u-trough'(8 rod)- rear=hole/forward= u-slot) that he has used successfully for over 10 years! Speckanator(Micah) also nicely welded/configured some 3/16' metal rods(rod holders) on metal v-angle iron, that could be C-clamp mounted on side rail @PP Don's eventual location preference(via experimentation). Don's(Ugly-Carrot) Waterloo ensued when he arrived @the place of reckoning(aka Monroe Pitbull battlefield) He surmises(no witnesses) that ALL rods were BUSY including the U-C stick, which unfortunately wasn't placed in the side-mounted(larger) rod holder that I 1st-mated last week on it's maiden voyage out of my DIY repair shop. Unfortunately, PP had mostly larger Stripers during this attack, and the Ugly-Carrot thought it was @Cape Canaveral!!: Rofl Remember the song = One less Bell to answer, One less rod to try!
For the more detail-minded readers, I have intentionally overused "unfortunately" in this post to validate the change of Monroe's MVP meaning = Most Visited Piscatorialist>Misplaced Valued Possession! Sorry, I don't have a picture, but then again, better I don't.
    Thanks for ridin'/readin' along!

Sure is odd how that snapping turtle ended up with the wire in its shell. May have been studying to be an electrician.

My theory is that Mr. Snappers scute got entangled with a trailer's wiring(old, abandoned, or current) he either broke or bit it too free himself. His scute eventually aged WITH IT for years! Maybe a C.com theory contest?Lol

All I can say is that I wouldn’t be the one to try to hold him down AND remove the wire. I like my digits just like they are. Sounds like y’all had fun anyway.
