Default Big Ole Slice of Humble Pie

Friday got excited to fish w/Marv from Lakeland, as this trip would turn out to be around 2 yrs in the making w/his hip surgery followed up by this whole Co-vid stuff, we've often text on tactics, ect...so as a neutral site to both of our travels we picked a lake I fished 1st before last March 2020 & limited out w/ good fish....well this morning was a different day, the streak is over, not 1 speck came aboard in 4 1/2 hrs of trolling only ell grass non-stop and 1 threadfin shad as insult & had to run the motor 1/2 way through to run batteries as it's time for replacement, however, all that said it was a beautiful day & Marv is every bit the soft spoken gentle soul I imaged in our texting....& best yet we get to do it again to get the catching part right, maybe we should use his tightline method as he texted me a pic yesterday of a limit he took in his home waters, w/ good fish in the mix...LOL
Well Saturday once again fished for the 1st time w/ Leonard (Bear lake slab Daddy), he offered to fish out of his boat, hearing of my battery issues. We started the 1st 3 hrs trolling in a method I'm not a custom too w/bobbers & jigs, got mesmerized by watching the floats vs rod tip ends I'm used to, thus missed several strikes, Leonard being the gentleman & laid back demeanor, was probably the only reason he didn't throw a banana @ the back of my head....lol....well we put 2 in the box & threw about 6 others back, so decided to return to the shallow water jigging that was hot last week, pull up to some pads & 5 fish come in the boat in 5 drops, but their all throwbacks, but hey this is going to be fun, lit' time goes by & I suggest we go to were I got kepper fish last time, but in the end we only managed 7 for the box that ended up being released, overall maybe 30 fish, enough to keep our attention in the 88F degree heat, I believe the Mercury reached, before we decided on Jesup Leonard mentioned Harney, which I felt would have been better for his beautiful Xpress and larger boat as mine would have served better in the shallow stuff, oh well great time & next one's in my boat.Pic of Marv's limit & Leonard in the pads as the Airboat tours came through....

    Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the kind words! Another “memory day “for sure, its not always about the catching. I really appreciate you traveling down here, after a full night of working, to take this old timer fishing. Big Ole Slice of Humble Pie
Yes, it was a beautiful day, had some laughs, told some fishing stories, plus I learned some long lining tips.
    Regards,
    Marv

The trip was good especially fishing behind the fun moon on a clear night. Seems as if my timing was off! probably should've waited till the afternoon
to give it a try! Jeff did his best to school me on some shallow water fishing and in spite of my self i did catch a few! And as anybody that is a fisherman I find myself looking forward to the next trip! Thanks Jeff for a good time and good company! BLSD

You’ve spent some time in good company. The fish will come when the get a mind to, we’ve all had days that didn’t go as planned. Good tale of some good trips. Thanks for taking me along.
