    Default Wednesday on Monroe

I took my time getting up. it was still cold out and I was in no hurry to brave that cold. I had a warn cup of coffee and took my time hooking up the boat. When I got to the ramp, much to my surprise there were still a lot of parking spaces left. I could see a small fleet of boats just off the ramp. I launched and headed out.

It was dead calm as I set the rods out. I dropped the trolling motor in and set it to low. My floats fell in behind the boat. I adjusted my course and looked for my thermos to get a cup of coffee. It was still cool out but not as bad as it has been.

It didn't take long before the first rod bends and the the first fish goes into the box. The water temp is 56 deg and I thought that the fish would have moved in closer to shore. But the fleet was out in open water, so that is where I am trying first. So far so good.

It is slow but steady action all morning. The wind starts to pick up and there is a slight chop on the water now. But the bite seems to have slowed down. ( Not normal ). It didn't last long and things laid back down. By this time I have taken off my first layer of clothing. The sun is up and it is a beautiful morning on the water. It is also getting late, I point the bow towards the ramp.

I check the box. It was a better day than I expected. I had a lot of throw backs, but it turned out I had a lot of keepers too.

I ended up with 10 keepers. That is more than I usually keep but my Lady said that she was having a friend over and wanted to serve her a fish dinner. All is good.

Until next time, I wish you all tight lines and full nets. See you on the water.

    Jim

A good morning no doubt. I like it when a nice box of fish kinda sneaks up on ya.
