    Default Got Burned...

in more ways than 1, however, sometimes the price of hardship is rewarded @ the end of the day...Mind you these things were self-inflected & a lesson or 2 can serve well, for the next time out. Was windy yesterday with patchy clouds, didn't put on sunscreen till I started to feel it=mistake #1, you know that heat you feel when the sun goes down... funny thing is today feel just fine, so maybe it was a wind burn/sun combo....well the wind made it challenging to long-line the area that's been good @ Jesup...sooo thought I might tuck out of the wind, & jig/bobber fish the banks to see if the males are starting to make beds, no one home, spent almost 3 hrs of no catching & wouldn't you know it, a "BURN" of another kind, snagged some timber, yanked a couple times & snap/broken Fenwick rod @ the end of the bend, w/4# test line, never had 1(rod) break like that without stepping on it...so just to push my luck, wasn't much longer & my micro lite Ugly Stik hangs up, started yanking & NO, not what you think, the line snaps this time, must say dollar for dollar give me them Ugly Stiks every time, just so ya know, would have retrieved both snags, but would had to climb some fallen timber & we have things like gators & cotton-mouths, as well as didn't need to slip & end the trip soaked. So when comes the part of being rewarded, well I out-lasted the wind (maybe fell to 10 mph) & had a couple good hrs trolling & most importantly made it home in 1 piece. Hmm, first day of 2021....Also added a pic of packaging the crappie in water, all air removed, same way I recently opened some Sea Trout from April 2020, made for great tacos, somebody once told me you couldn't save fish that long, the taste buds tell a different story...just say'n......

Glad you got out and found some. I went yesterday for a short and got a few, released. Tried to go to your home ground this afternoon and found the ramp locked and heavy police presence. No idea what happened but they wouldn’t even let me come through the gate and turn around. Crime scene? DONO. So off to Monroe and put in, now near 3 and off I went to my normal grounds. Caught a short while putting rods out, then nothing for an hour and a half. Just before dark they got active for about 45 minutes, finished with 8. Given away at the ramp. 66* water and they were shallower than recent trips. We need to share a boat soon, and this coming weekend just got covered on my end. Don’t know if I’ll fish this weekend at all. Hope everyone doesn’t follow my lead. Soon Jeff........

Nice mess! I've always had the best luck freezing fish filets in water too.

Just pulled up the article, apparently it was not fishing related OTW, body found in woods @ the park, however, just a heads up, somebody sank a old fiberglass boat in the cut leading out to the lake, winds have pushed it dead center of the track out, when waters recede to normal it maybe impossible to enter lake from that ramp, if it isn't removed...be safe.
