Well it can always be worse. I been packaging fish that way as long as they have made zip loc bags. They will easily last over a year. I also do shrimp that way, but be sure the bags are heavy duty and be careful if you leave the tail shell on.
I always pack my fish in water and remove the air. They will last up to 2 years this way, although they usually don't make it that long. Might want to edit your time, unless you are from the future! lol

I used to freeze my fish in water until i was intro'd to vacuum sealing. Been a fan ever since!
