Thread: Slow Day

Went sniffin around today, Looking for fish in different places. Started late but hit the first stop about 8. Nada. No, that’s wrong. I did get one bass guy hot under the collar. I had traveled a good ways and was about to reach for my anchor and here comes his highness. Looks at me and sees where I’m headed, pulls in and shuts down. Suits me, I was fishing the other side of the boat anyway. He didn’t think the 20’ I left between us was enough, so he fired up and left in true bass style, throwing wake my way. But he needed a bigger boat. He didn’t miss anything anyway. Ran to the ramp and put it back on the trailer, on to spot two.

Went back to the scene of recent successes. Now 10 o’clock, I wondered how this would play out. It didn’t take long to see it was slow here too. Long uneventful story short, 5 fish caught with 3 keepers. I was putting up the rods to head in and one of my 12’s was last out. As I turned to take it out of the holder, it was bent over, fish on! And a keeper too. Headed to the ramp and looked for someone to give these fish to, and a guy that was picking pockets in the weeds caught my eye. Eased over to have a word with him and it was Travis that Chucker and I had met a couple of weeks back. He got the fish and we talked awhile, his day slow too, and we headed for the ramp. Another boat fell in with us, and we all wound up talking at the ramp. It seems that after talking with Chuck and I, Travis went home and joined CDC. I said something about that to the other boat that had fallen in with us. He just pointed to his Crappie.com sticker on his boat. I was in good company. SC53(Steve) and his wife Carol were in their Action Craft, and Travis (Dentman)was in his key west center console with his dog. We talked a while and parted ways after me getting a picture of them all. So no fish to speak of, but a good day in good company. Hope to see y’all out one day soon......Skeet

The fishing may have been slow, but it was still good. And new friends to boot. That's a good day.
