    Default chasing my bobber

I decided to go on week end. Got to the ramp in time to see a friend had launched just before me. We head out into the lake. What a beautiful morning. I start to set out my rods.

I had to use the trolling motor to get my lines lined up. Before I got all the rods out, I had the first fish in the box. Looks like it will be a good day. It didn't take long to add a second fish to the box. Then it goes quiet. Nothing. Nada. I get a call from Tim. They're over here he says. I head over in that direction.

All my bobbers were all lined up and following along just so nice. Then one takes a dive under the surface. The rod bends. I pick up the rod and start to wind in the fish but nothing happens. The fish is fighting the rod, but I have a twist or something that is keeping me from reeling him in. I try to find where the snag is but instead I hear a pop as the line breaks and I stand there watching my bobber dart away from me. I put the rod down and get to the trolling motor and take chase. I can see my bobber heading out into open water. I get close enough to the bobber to lean over and grab it when it darts under the surface again. But wait, I can see it about a foot down. I lean over and make a wild grab! Got it ! Hand over hand I bring in a nice 13" crappie. A little unusual, but I'll take it.

I reset the rod and move on to another location. Did I tell that it was a slow morning? I only had 4 fish in the box. One more location then I'll call it a day. I move on.

I make the turn into the new area. All is quiet. Then one of the rods jumps in it's rod holder. Something good is on the line. I grab the rod and start to guide the fish towards the boat. Nope ! does not want any of that. He crosses over three other rods. Just about then another rod goes off. I grab the net as I work the fish towards the boat with three other lines in tow. I scoop up the fish and drop him on the deck clearing the net as I do so. I grab the other rod and bring him in. Two nice stripers just came onboard. I make another pass of the area and pick up a few more crappies.

I call it a day. I had forgotten about the Sunday crowd and they were starting to show up.

Until next time, tight lines and full net. See you on the water.

I agree with Buckeye, we’ll told and great pics. Good to see you out this morning, Alex and I got a chance to catch up and bag enough fish for his almost famous fish tacos. He took 4 and the rest still swim, seed for another day. A very enjoyable morning til the temps got up. See you out next time, I hope.

WTG Jim. Lake Monroe appears to have a fair amount of stripers. I am so looking forward to the Slabfest and maybe getting a chance to catch a striper. Tight Lines.
