    Default Suwannee River in December

Greetings all. I will be going up to the Suwannee River in Live Oak for the first time in late December with a few friends. All of us fish regularly, but none of us have ever fished the Suwannee or even anywhere in North Florida. I would like to spend a day bass fishing for Suwannee bass and largemouth bass and then spend a day panfishing for various sunfish and crappie. Can anyone provide any tips for fishing the river during this time of year?
Thanks Crappiegirl1 thanked you for this post

Thank you. That's what I hear and see from pictures. Now I just hope the fish cooperate those days.

I haven't been on the Suwanee in many decades so I can' offer you location advise. However, I can tell you that it is EXTREMELY current-dependent. When it has been raining hard, the current will be raging and fishing will be difficult (if not impossible). If weather conditions do make it fishable for you, I'd probably use a jig or minnow (or combination) under a float and let the current carry it past the standing cypress knees.

Thanks for the advice so far. I just looked at the river is running 3x more water than normal for this time of year. With the hurricane that might roll through this weekend I'm sure it'll only go up. Hope it drops well enough by late December. If anyone has any other info I'd love to hear it and I'll report back how the trip goes.
