    Default Monday morning.

I got up by 6am and was out of the house by 6:30. I was the first trailer in the lot and the boat was in the water before 7am. The lake was like glass, but just as I was getting into the boat, I felt a light drizzle. I looked at the sky but it was still dark out and couldn't tell if it was going to be a big rain. I put the top up and headed out into the lake.

By the time I got to the fishing hole, the rain had stopped , so I put the top back down and set out the poles. It was starting to look like a beautiful morning.

It didn't take long before one of the rods goes off. It has some pull to it. I take my time so that I don't loose it. Some of these fish have learned how to get off the hook. But not this one. I grab the net and work him on in. This is a nice keeper. Over 12 1/2 inches. It goes in the box.

I reset the rod and go to get my cup of coffee. The same rod goes off again. I take my time and add another nice keeper to the box. I adjust my other rod to match this one and set it out. It worked as the other rod goes off. I work it in to range of the net only to see the head shake , then the tail as the fish swims away. Things go quiet for now. I move to another spot.

I get to the end of the run and start to turn to make another pass. But before I do, a rod goes into the deep bend. This one was only 11 inches but still a good fish. Number 3 goes in the box. I make the turn and work my way back the way I came. Nothing this pass. I look to the shallow water and wonder if they might be there. I point the bow in that direction and start to work my way towards shore.

By now the sun is up and the clouds seemed to have left because its getting hot and I needed to break out the sun glasses. 2 more fish have made it into the box and it is looking like I can get two nice meals out of them for me and my Lady. I head towards the ramp.

I had the lake to my self for the most part. Only saw 1 other boat early on, but they didn't stick around where I was working the lake. 5 fish in the box, 1 LDR, and 1 short that went back home. Only 1 keeper shy of my goal. Still good though.

Until next time, tight lines and full nets. See you on the water.

    Jim
