    Default new lake

The long wait ended about five weeks ago with the opening of the 10.000 acre Headwaters lake.
I suppose the name is associated with its proximity to the Saint john.
Its being billed as one of the top bass lakes in the country, and the crowd sizes from opening day have been very large. Quite a few videos are already showing up on Youtube about it.
Its on the same road as Stickmarsh, but about a mile before you get to that lake.
While ive been there quite a few times since it opened, i havent yet attempted to fish there.
With my age i need time to launch and with all those bass guys i feel its best to wait awhile for that. Ive talked with a few fish and wildlife people ive seen there and they told me there are a few Crappie fishermen mixed in but not many as yet.
From what i see and hear on the videos it should be a great spot especially for jigging on brush and around trees. The parking lots at both Stickmarsh and Garcia are almost empty since this lake opened.

sounds like it might be someplace to check out once things quit down some. Let us know when you do get a chance to test those waters.

The best time to go would be in the early afternoon, as most of the bass guys seem to leave around noon.
With the temps starting to come down some thats probably what ill do in the next week or so.
There isnt any horse power restrictions but there is a speed limit of 25 mph.
But ive watched the rooster tails behind those boats as they head down the canal from the launch area.
No way i need be around that in a 14’ jon boat.

Good luck when you go, sounds like it has promise.
