I like your diy hook. Sorry about the slow day, but you still got to get out . That in it self is not bad.
After yesterday's extensive, lackluster crappie search, I've decided to just hang it up! The 100 minute each way travel time had Lake Jessup's twin spans as my single-pole easy-peasy formula for 88 degree water temps to get fresh crappie filets on the menu. After 8 hours of casting/traveling/theorizing, starting @Lake Jessup Park and extending to Lemon Bluff via water, I had a single 11" "victim" sitting iced in cooler!! Half dozen or so mini(bream) taps with one tap and boil(mudfish?) was all I could manage. Even tried fan-casting beetle spins in the shallows for bluegills etc.nada Water level was high, fast and off color, crappie was very pale and obvious signs of FWC weed control spray was very recent. To add to the disappointing day was picking up my favored 6' Fenwick u/l at one point to find the tip had snapped, fortunately enough @thread wrap. Obviously, it was not positioned properly during all of the search modes going on. Fortunately today I had a plastic hanger tempt me with my creative skills. Brought to mind a saying my dear dad would throw my way from time to time "That's using your head for more than a hat rack"! Anyone can Google the nearest Walmart or West Marine, but it's always satisfying when you can DIY in life's stumbles. Not quite as satisfying as more cooler occupants, but that's fishin'! Obviously, there are varying hanger strengths, this is what I had on hand to heat/bend/cut/drill. Tools- heat gun, snips, dremel/wire wheel, drill-

Just wish I knew b4 hand that Jeff (SpeckDetector) had regulated the bite format to Longlining only.
