Question Lk Poinsette & SJR ?

Anyone catchin crappie on Lk Poinsette or SJR just north of it? Been skunked last 3 outings. Not even a mudfish! Driftin, trollin, still fishin- makes no difference. Tried about every bait except live minnows, including stick baits, spinner baits, jigs with all types & colors of plastic bodies. Have marked some fish on sonar but nary a bite. Is it just the time of year?

I have been working the St Johns River just north of lake Monroe. But I have been turning my attention to the sunshine bass. I have been able to boat some of those along with a few nice cats and a large mouth every so often. I have not been able to hook up with the specks or gills lately. So I changed up to what I was finding. Good luck in your area.

another good day at the office !

I used to go down there but haven't been in a few years, I don't fish this time of year due to the heat, planning on starting back up again probably around the end of September if it cools down .......

I think the rain patterns and higher water level, have the river fish on the move.... Harney area hasn't been a bad bite, but seeing your from the Viera area, it might be worth the 1/2 hr ride south to Stick Marsh/Farm Pond, some very quality size Specks as well as the bonus Bass & Gill population...,..

I would agree with this, I live in Vero Beach, and havent been hesitant about driving an hour or more for a day of fishing.
But the lakes closer to me like Stick Marsh, Garcia, and Blue Cypress work just as well for me.
The ramp and parking area have been completed for the now 10 year old 10000 acre lake adjoining Stickmarsh as well, but they havent openened it for use as yet.
From where you are in Vierra, i would suggest you take a dry run scouting trip south on 95 to Palm Bay. Exit 95 at Malabar road, which is the exit below Bass Pro. As you may know Academy Sports is at the same exit as Bass Pro, but on the west side of 95.
But when you get to Malabar road, go right, which is west on that road till you run out of paved road, which will be about 4 miles, and past the high school.
The road past the school turns into a good sand road and continues to the parking area and ramps at Lake Citori. And yes nobody ever heard of lake Citori. lol The ramps and facilities are better than any you have seen, and the lake can best be described as massive. But you wont be seeing that from the ramp area, and there are no maps available for it. Best to do a Google earth visit first by following Malabar rd from 95.
Also make your own map by using what appear to be canals from the ramp, but are actually just paths thru all the vegetation in the water.
Go slowly, feeling your way as you go while paying close attention to where you are for the first few trips. The west side paralells the River and is seperated by a berm. You will find deep water along that side, over 20’ in places.
From Vierra, the best way to Stickmarsh and the new lake also, would be to also exit 95 at Malabar rd in Palm Bay.
Then go (east) on Malabar rd for a very short distance, and turn right on Babcock st which is also Rt 507.
Follow that road south about 5 or 6 miles till you come to the bridge across the C54 canal at the Brevard county line.
Cross the bridge and immediately turn right.
Its about 1/2 mile to the parking and ramp for the C54, about 5 miles to the new lake, and another mile to Stickmarsh.
If your young enough, you just might get to know your way around all those places in your lifetime.
