No bg experience there but they still should have a close proximity to shallow spawning areas(sandy, pads, sparse weeds etc) Maybe you'll get a scenario to the recent posts(pics) from Glad2bhere

Sorry for posting a Bluegill question in the Crappie forum, but I could use some advice. I've taken my 5 year old son fishing for the last 4 weekends on the lakes and we've netted 1 keeper. I've tried multiple spots on Beauclair, Dora, Carlton, Eustis and the canals in between. We tried all kinds of bait from worms, bread, crickets, soft plastics, beetle spin, etc. My son love to catch bluegill as my dad lives on a lake in Hawthorne and we'll pull 20-30 a day when we venture up there. I like fishing the Harris chain because it's so close to the house, but hate coming up empty every time. I know there are a lot of Harris chain users on the forum so helping someone can point me in the right direction. Not asking for specific spots just some general info on what signs I should be looking for when picking a spot (depth, Lilly pads, maiden cane, bait moving, etc.
Chances are you may have seen me out there, we're in a light blue Tidewater with white t tops. Any tips/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Ryan Crain

Worms would be the thing to use, and I'd look for sandy areas, maybe pads too. Make sure to get close to the bottom if you're in the pads. I have also use the cheesy sausages cut up in to small pieces that barely cover the hook. That's actually what works for me and my mom from our sea wall when we're able to get out. Right now the yellow flies have us on lockdown! doh

From talking to every gill chaser I see on Harris almost daily, if you can find em in any number or size your doing something nobody else can figure out. Everyone seems completely baffled.
