    Default Slow in Astor

Drifted the river this morning with minnows and picked up 7 keepers and maybe that many throw backs. My son had the hot hand and caught 2 just shy of 2#. Quite a few other boats and no one was tearing them up. A little chilly but a beautiful day!

Nice fish and better times. Y’all will remember this trip for a while. I bet that big one gave up some nice fillets.

Yesterday my son and me took the kayaks over to Port Orange to see if we could get any salty critters to bite. We were after sheepshead but every bait shop was sold out of fiddler crabs because the bites been so good. We opted for sandfleas and it didn't matter...they were hungry! Lol. What a blast it was with these little fighters from the kayaks. Ended up with 5 keepers and had 2 big fish break me off.
Dad stayed in Astor chasing specks and it paid off. Had is best day of the winter with 15 in the livewell.

32nd oz with a 1. 25 Bobby Garland itty bitty in monkey milk or the glacier got 18 for me on Monday in about 3 hrs single poling weed edges.
Six came home and 4 of them had eggs, none of the 18 were big fish.
Trolling speed was one notch above dead still. Very little wind made the difference.
