Default first sunrise of the new Year

I couldn't think of a better way to start the New Day, The New Month, The New Year and A New Decade than on the water with the first sunrise of the Decade.

And she was a beauty at that.

I headed to the nw corner so that I could play the wind. It seems like everyone else on the lake had the same idea. I found an open spot and set out the lines. The wind was a bit stronger than I was expecting. I put down the trolling motor for some control. Half way through the pass my rod bends. It's not a hard bend , I lift the rod. The tip goes down. Now it's a hard bend. I grab the net and bring the fist keeper of the new decade on board. Nice fish ! Nice way to start out. I make the turn and start the trip back. The rods bend again, and again , and again. Three in a row. all small ones. They go back.

I go by the marker and a voice calls out . It's skeetbum . We chat a bit before the wind moves us apart. I got to see his new ride , it's nice !

It's a little while before I bend the rods again but when it does bend there is a good size fish on the other end. Thats two in the box ! The wind is taking me east, I use the trolling motor to nudge me to the north, towards the ramp. I am thinking about calling it an early day. Then a rod goes off again. This time it is taking some line off of the reel. I work it in and grab the net. Slab in the box !! It's just a short time later when I have the forth fish of the day added to the box. That's it ! four big ones equal two meals for me. I pull the rods and head in.

    Nice day, great sunrise !!
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
