Doug, Jesup had a few w/early sac formation, but no gut busters, believe on track for normal February spawn there...Tim was surprised to find out I had New yr Eve off as well as New yr Day,so picked the Eve to drain the troll batteries...I can honestly say it's more relaxing trolling 10 poles, then trying to tend to more than 2 poles w/minnows, the wind kept sending the baits into hang-ups, also made casting an event, while the pesky gar had me rubber-necking to find my bobber...Andy, actually went New yrs Eve, but have seen an article on Spacefish.com of some Dandy Shad being taken already in the shallows around the Econ dump to St. John's from what they were describing...must be the leaders of the pack...

Thanks for info. Surprised about the no bridge bite. Pontoon Pappy has already taken 1st Monroe shad about 2 weeks ago. Looks like good shad potential this year.

I feel your pain with minnows, sat on the end of our community dock "lake yale" for 2 hours during the end of the rain on Saturday...I was feeding the turtles ect lol ugh..
Couldn't force feed a minnow to a crappie..Also fished Friday before the rain.. from 9am to 2pm...only few bass.. Saturday afternoon
Watched as 2 guys with cain poles kept moving closer every 15-20 min...they caught probably 10 while I was watching..enjoying the sprinkles..lol
So I had to ask...He said grass shrimp...I always bring wrong bait.. lol

Dang, thats not good. I tried grass shrimp here in FL once, never caught a fish on one. They are so small. Others seem to do well with them, but just not my bait. I use jigs pretty much exclusively. I woulda been casting jigs off that dock. Anyway, better luck next time.
