    Default No minnows here

Went out to lake Jesup, to check if any signs of the spawn was happening, so decided to pick up some minnows . The morning started at a brisk 56F & my 1st hand dip into the bucket reminded me of the dis-pleasure the next couple hrs would bring keeping my hands warm...then with signs of life in the pads & reeds teaming w/bait, thought this may be all worth it, only to have 1 gar after another steal minnows, after a couple spots & hang ups in cover, decided I'd try the bridge, no minnow takers there either...so thank goodness I brought the trolling poles & set my sites to open water, mind you, not 1 speck already 10:30 am...well 1st fish Bang 13"er, road-runner...then a pattern developed with more road-runner hook-ups, the cold appeared to send them deeper, set up 2 more poles with road-runners & the numbers started piling up. Ended the day with a 10lb. kitty that barely made the net, on my 4ft ugly stik UL, that took close to a 1/2 hr to land on 4lb. test...guess all is well, that ends well...but NO Minnows For This GUY...never know, there's always next yr for minnows...LOL... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Good trip Jeff, I should’ve gone with you. Great cooler shot. I feel better knowing I wasn’t the only one that got let down last time to the bridge. No miners for me for a while either

The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
