Default Sant John’s river trip coming soon

Can some of the locals in the Satsuma area help out.I am looking for a good tackle and bait shop in that area. On my home Lake I use Crappie niblets. I keep hearing you guys talking about slab slime. What is it and where can I get some. And one last question Where can you buy minnows by the pound. Good luck to all and a merry Christmas

You can use niblets here in Florida. Slab sauce can be bought through this site. or you can go with out anything but your jig. ( thats the way I have been doing it ) and still have success. Sorry, can't help you about the minnows. I don't use them. Good luck when you go.

another good day at the office !

Georgia Boys bait and tackle. Slab sauce, check with the site owner Slab. Several bait shops carry it.

Messer's Westside Bait in Palatka sells minnows by the pound. Very nice people. Recently stayed open after closing hours for us to get there.
386-328-4035. FYI, they will bag them for you in helium (I think) keeps minnows alive over night. Also, Walmart is across the street. Restaurants, Publix in the area.
Georgia Boys is closer. Merry Christmas!

You may want to try the south end and creek on Crescent Lake, the creek is deep and the fish move up in the cypress knees, there are some really good fish there. A short drive from Satsuma, go past Welaka and get your minnows at the 308 junction then take 308 to Crescent City, bout 30 mins

When did Messer's start selling by the pound? I tried there last year, they only sold by 25cts... Interesting
Hawthorne last I checked was $19 a lb

Thanks guys for the good information. Glad to hear plastic works well. I don’t like using minnows anyway. Sounds like plastic is the ticket for me.Hope to meet some of you guys while I’m in the area. Will be in a black Xpress. Come and stay hello

Orion_70 I stand corrected. We bought 100 minnows. I'm not use to that. Tom in Hawthorne sells by the pound.
