Default Manatee and 63 degree water temps

I went fishing this morn, and a puppy dog followed me home.

Well, maybe not a puppy dog, but a Manatee. There were two manatee. I believe a Mamma and her baby. They followed me 3/4 of a mile. At one point I actually tried to get away with the Terova on 10, but it was like something out of Jaws with them kicking into high gear and chasing me down, big wake and all.

I called the FWC here and spoke with a Manatee Biologist, and she actually looked at the video. She said that although the water temp was 63 degrees, the Manatee was in perfect health. They would do a rescue later in the season if it was under stress, but at this time of the year, they kinda wait to see if it'll make it own way back up to Silver Springs here where they hang out in the winter by the warm spring waters. I hope it does make it, cause it'll have to navigate its way through a lock to get there.

They got smelly breath too. They are really cool, I dig them. Followed me like a puppy dog through the whole state park.

Now that's pretty wild right there and some up close and personal footage for sure. I visited Florida several times and was lucky enough to go fishing and to see Manatees almost every time.
They are truly the tame and gentle giants of the salt water beyond any doubt. I was truly amazed the first time I ever saw one.

I guess it’s hard to find a good back scratcher in the water!
    Trolling motor provided a scratcher.
