A very true statement indeed Brother Skeet. I went from deer hunter (for 30 some years) to deer photographer and never looked back again and as for me... I get way more satisfaction out of knowing that I could have taken the deer's life... but instead took a picture only... and that he or she is still alive and well. Don't get me wrong: I don't have any problems with hunting in any way shape or form and I still get the notion to go every once and a while... and may go again some day. I do have a problem (however) with shooters who are only interested in amassing body counts; and who show little regard, respect or humility for the lives of those beautiful creatures they are mindlessly snuffing out.

Our Wildlife Club does two fish frys a year. One in spring for kids that are in shelters due to family situations and one in fall for a friends and family day.
Two of my targeted species are invasive (White Perch and Oscar) with no limits so I vacuum seal a bunch and use in our 2 events.
I usually just keep just enough game fish for a fresh meal for the two of us.
Not to say we don't enjoy the Perch and Oscar, we do, but those are the 2 I freeze in quantity.

Andy, I too miss the time in the woods, watching it come to life at first light. My habit is to be in the woods, where I wanted to hunt, between an hour and two hours before the sun cracked the sky. So many animals have walked by mere feet away and never knew I was there. That was thrilling.
Yo, you have my respect. The 1200 miles is a pretty fair jaunt for most anyone. Good luck when you go and please be careful. I usually hunted alone, for several reasons, which always kept my wife on edge. Fish alone too. Hard to hold to a preset itinerary but that comes with doing things alone. Hope you get to holler “Brown Down”!

Certainly do not like to see any waste, but will not judge someone as long as they are within legal limits. Never know the whole story. I can remember back when I was heavily involved in Little League having no problem going through an entire deer in 1 weekend between having coaches and board members at house on Friday night and a baseball team along with a softball team and families on a Saturday night. No way I could have pulled the feeds off from a grocery store. Some folks only get a few trips in a year and make the most of the occasion. Where I do have a problem is someone breaking laws, or selling game or fish, along with people knowing what is going on and not saying anything. If you want to be a good steward, report the violations.
