While being rained in today on Fla's West Coast with a major front that came from Mexico direction, I did some You Tube surfing that somehow brought me into some eye-opening facts about the Cuban-born JW aka the Spanish Fly. I caught a lot of his shows(Saltwater) years ago but not until today after viewing episodes/techniques did I realize his true orator/teacher/fisherman skills. Also didn't realize it has been 7 1/2 years since he tragically passed away. Do yourself a favor and at least view his "last episode" on You Tube called Jose's last one. Near the end there is a very neat capture of a fly caught Tarpon with a guide and I'm asking you, if you don't mind, give this post a 2 thumbs up because of the guide's "2 thumbs in"! You'll understand after watching. Please understand I'm asking this as a tribute to Jose and his friends & family. Consider this request as sort of our Prayer request here on C.com. Don't mind if you don't see the value this man was, do some more research and you'll find that he died in his mid 50's while piloting his own home-made airplane even while having certified 1000 fly hours. Should be enough said. See ya.

I was in a saltwater tournament one time and won a personally signed lure by him = got it stuck away .............
"Teach a man to fish = he can feed himself "
"Teach the world to fish = you won't have any fish left to eat "
Jose has a great story behind him, scattered with some of the greats of the sport. It was a must see for me if any TV time was in my plans. No such things as “ oh, this is a rerun.” They were always worth watching. Better hasn’t come along since.
Living in a small town far away from any saltwater, it was later in my life when I found out about Jose. A passionate outdoors man who inspired many with his educational abilities.
What time is it? IT'S CRAPPIE TIME!
