Thread: Hangin' out @the bar not VFW or AL

After experiencing a deep-pocket, Crystal River guide trip w/3 friends a few weeks back(see attachments), I knew it was time to use my deep-V Skeeter not used since April '19! I could blame it on my non-stop reach for my flat-bottom Carolina Skiffs or my occasional use of my Ocean Kayak but I won't, but the Draft is back! My one-man 6 mile offshore(20' depth) Grouper troll idea was surely a job easily accomplished by this rig, unfortunately the Grouper didn't cooperate for me. Rather snotty conditions to be honest. So I motored back to shallower water a bit South. As the outgoing tide was 75% finished, I was drift casting with 1st keeper trout and as I was dropping it in livewell my drift stopped! Yeppir, invisible sand bar (+- 9") invites me as an unreserved guest for 3 hours!! I immediately jumped out of my rig to try to resolve the issue @hand with no mobility. So knowing that what goes out must come in(tide) I decide to wade fish obviously peeking at my new mooring spot. No real need for that though, it would still get lower(see pics). Shortly after the boat got realigned with water rise, anxious to resume my cooler fill, I started my man-labor to get this mission restarted. Nope, not yet, not enough H2O. About 20 minutes later, with some grunting, I got back to my productive casting after not even a hit while wading. Within the next hour, I filled my 5 trout creel with 17 - 19 inchers and headed home dreading the next day soreness forecast. Thanks for reading.
