    Here is the report.

Left Deland Tuesday am via Houseboat making Astor area mid afternoon. NE winds making Dexter not an option. Tied Houseboat behind Lundren Island (Shell Island) and settled in. Ran my lil crab boat into Astor and picked up Crickets and Red worms at Anglers Riverside Retreat. Nice folks there.

Now Folks I really want to join the Crappie game but... Omg the Shellcrackers were bitting as were the Copperheads.

Paula B and myself managed to fish mornings and evenings on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning.

I'm not one to keep it real accurate count on fish, and only keep what I intend to eat for dinner. But the shellcracker bite was steady all week. Most of the good crackers we're solid chunky 9 inch fish as were the big copperheads.

As for the crappie. Well I found that to be a little slow. Managed 7 all week and all on live minnows. But honestly, the cracker bite was so good, I didn't really fish crappie hard.

Overall, Paula B and myself had a wonderful time. Thanks for everyone's input.

Will definitely be fishing the Astor area more. While in the area, dropped in at South Moon Fish Camp to have a look around. They seem like really nice people and I'm sure we will be visiting them soon.

    Cheers All,

    Uncle J

Glad to hear that it was a good trip and you found fish enough to keep you busy. I know a couple of cracker spots up near Astor , gonna have to make the trip. The copper nose and crackers are always welcome on my table.

Sounds like a nice week, I've wanted to rent a houseboat and spend a week or so on the St.Johns
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
