Mayflies are not bad. Good mayfly population = a healthy lake or river. Also mayflies are fish food.
Why are the mayflies continuing to be so bad? I can't remember them being this bad for so many months

Would love to be able to fly fish still. Busted down too many doors with my shoulders while in combat so I can't hardly cast a rod anymore. I hope to catch some monsters when it cools off the mayflies have been unbareable all summer, so much the fish aren't interested in live minnows or jigs of any kind lately

Try tenkara, maybe? The owner of Tenkara Bum, Chris Stewart, is a member here at CDC.

I usually have great success on my lake using crappie poles with torpedo bobbers and live minnows. Just dealing with swarms that thick since spring is getting old. Maybe it's God's way of telling me to take a break from fishing...lol

I was born and raised here in Florida and bug spray works somewhat on the sand flees, but I haven't found anything yet to deter the mayflies. But if that's all I have to complain about then life is good
